App pages and google search results

I have never developed an app but now need to understand something about how they are indexed...I received the following enquiry:

I was wondering if you would give me permission to feature your websites in our app Custom Search facility? In effect, search results appear inside the App and once there, users will be able to navigate around your website pages just as though they had found it via a normal Google Search.

Is this the same as including our site in a google custom search engine - in which case my answer would be yes because it might send some traffic - or is there a risk that our pages get indexed as part of someone else's app, and cause problems for our own site?

I would not grant permission until I knew the full details. An app can be anything, so you need to know what specifically they are trying to do. Even if this is Apple or Google emailing me to be included in their app, I would want to know specific details and a legal agreement for me to have reviewed.
