Advice for adding structured data

I am trying to apply structured data section on my website, example.com but google does not find the tag , what can I be doing wrong ?

Since Google has hinted that structured data might give a ranking boost in the future, I expect many people are now chasing after this potential ranking boost.

First I'd like to remind everyone that Google isn't currently giving a big ranking boost to sites with structured data and it might never give a big ranking boost - so be careful you aren't overreacting to the situation.

Structured data is better suited for certain types of sites and your website might not be the best beneficiary of structured data. Even if your content is a good match for structured data tags, you might not want to use it since it can expose your content on Google serps possibly leading to fewer visits to your site. Think about the entire situation before making a decision, you want to do the best for your business and sometimes that means not following every suggestion from Google.
