When searching my company name on Google, it displays correctly within the standard search results, however, on the right side of the results, a competitor's local business information (map, etc) is shown (a similar company name - I am "store", they are "shop"). Is this right? Is there a way I can report this to Google?

This isn't a Google issue: there shouldn't be a local competitor with a similar name. If there is, one of you is probably infringing the trade mark of the other, or at least (depending on where you are) "passing off".

Take it to an intellectual property specialist who offers a free initial discussion (or if you are a member of a trade body that offers free legal advice, ask them). You'll find fairly good general guidelines on UK trade mark issues on [gov.uk ].

I wouldn't advise taking it to Google: if they are in any doubt about whether displaying your content in their results constitutes trade mark infringment, the easiest thing for them is not to display it.
