Gary says to think about this change as Google having now extra hard disk storage capacity.
I wonder how they previously choose what not to index, which now they think is worthwhile indexing.

They've got to be joking, they've bought "some" more hard disks and that solves all their problems?
I wonder how many some are, 10K, 100K, 1,000K, a new data centre, where?
Come on Google, explain a little more where this investment has gone and how much so that we can see you're at least attempting to resolve your issues or are these disks purely for more scraping and intrusiveness?

I was having an issue with a site where the sitemap had a little over 3,000 pages listed but Google only had 51 pages indexed. A couple of strategic links placed and two weeks later they have close to 2,000 pages indexed. The timing of Google's expansion is unfortunate for me as that is the second possible variable for that site in the same time period.
I'll do my part and try to fill the new storage.

I've noticed an increase in pages crawled per day over the past week, but we saw our indexation counts rise about four weeks ago, when they first announced they were indexing more pages. We saw about a 15% increase in indexed pages.

I see a very interested thing. The site has 10K plus pages and the sitemap data shows 95% indexed. The interesting part is the structured data. There are breadcrumbs and products and I know they are coded correctly. Now on those only about 2500 are recognized. I see definite plateaus. I even see the numbers will go up. At times 100 pages a day. Then a plateau, then it might lose items so it stays at the plateau. My thoughts are if you are properly indexing then these numbers should be higher, much higher. I feel like my ranking is more along the lines of the how the structured data ranks. I have seen this for months now. I don't trust the sitemap data they display. I can even fetch pages and the data still does not show up. Don't trust the sitemap data.

After several weeks of seeing more indexed pages, our site had a significant decrease (12%) for the week of 8/23 according to the Google Index report in Search Console (not in the sitemaps area). I'm assuming this is due to the recent indexed page bug that Google announced around 8/21, however, I was under the impression that bug was isolated to Site Maps area of SC. Has anyone else seen a significant decline recently?
