A particular search term that I follow is now returning a rich snippet as well as #1 and 2 organic search result from the same site.. These search terms are a commercial service for consumers.

I think Google is missing the boat on this one... Since there is no way Google can gauge the quality of the service returning multiple results from the same site does not help the consumer.

Comments?

As an SEO, I've noticed this and have been having a fun time optimizing my online presence to make it work to my advantage. Some of my clients didn't care about the other ways to promote themselves via Google and settled for traditional web content. They felt that way until I showed them the competition doing this. You can build some strong synergy that greatly boosts traffic when you play with rich snippets.

Not every rich snippet is a smart choice for every website. You need to be smart and think about it. In addition to rich snippets, I love getting my clients into the different serp add-ons like Google local, videos etc. I also like building synergy with organic & adwords at the same time. I don't care paying Google $1 for adwords if I'm making $2. The more serp landscape I can figure out a way to profitably exploit the happier I am.

I hate always having to learn new things and dealing with constant change but hey it's how I make my living so I deal with it.
