I have not see this myself - have you seen it?

Where is the answer coming from: Google's own data, knowledge graph?

An update, which is rolling out now, shows answers to short questions directly in the autocomplete options as you type them.

A query like “when did Hawaii become a state?” shows the answer in the suggestions dropdown. The change only appears to work with queries that have short answers, mainly related to dates. Google Instant Search Shows Answers In Autocomplete [thenextweb.com]
