We all know that personalisation can make a big difference to what we see in Google SERPs, however, the data center updates can also make a significant difference to your traffic and site performance.

I used to see more frequent updates to the data centers, but, i'm surprised to note an apparent slowness for updates. For example, I think almost four weeks is a long time for the data to be refreshed, unless there's something else in play.

What is your experience with data center updates?

Certainly the Mobile update took a long time to appear here (UK), which I think was a DC issue. I'm not up to date with which DCs are involved, or how localised they are: other UK posters were seeing the effect some time before I did.

Just a quick update to let you know that a week later, the datacenter serving the site check is still showing the same results. Personalisation gone mad, or lack of datacenter updates. Methinks the latter.

engine, Barry wrote over at seroundtable.com [seroundtable.com] about your thread here in WebmasterWorld. When I first read your OP, I felt you meant to say it is taking longer for Google to refresh the data in its DCs, which I too have observed. But reading Barry's article, I get a feeling it is about syncing data/results between datacenters, not so much about data refresh frequency of a DC. Could you clarify please?

Well, that's part of the problem, it's quite difficult to button down where the delay lies. For example, one datacenter shows different stats compared to another. You would think that one would catch up with the real data on the other reasonably quickly, right? Unless, as i indicated, it's personalisation gone mad. I wonder how much is FUD! hehehe

The other thing is the consistency of the data - one changes, so there's a test going on, right. Watching what happens over the next few days and you'd expect roll-outs, or roll-backs, or even stability.

Oh, there's no question about one thing - Google still loves current, up-to-date fresh content, and that data seems to refresh very rapidly.
