What is acceptable search result CTR? I was looking at WMT and my average CTR is 10%. When I saw the number of impressions vs clicks I was floored. I'm leaving 90% of possible impressions on the floor. So apparently I'm ranking ok, but only 1/10 are clicking my link. What are the best tips and articles for increasing CTR in search results?

If you can find some way to prevent Google from changing your page titles, that would big a big step toward better CTRs.

For shorter titles it does add my site name to the end. I have a forum so I don't think that helps. Would it be a bad idea if I put the phrase "- Expert Analysis" or "- Scientific Analysis" at the end of every thread page title? Or would Google look badly at that?

Meta description is the best place to use for inciting a click. You might also want to focus on keeping the visitors you receive on the page longer, removing distractions, giving them more things to browse near the main content area, related topics, etc.
