PageSpeed Insights... "optimized resources" report

Just noticed this at the bottom of PSI report... Speed > Passed Rules:
Download optimized image, JavaScript, and CSS resources for this page
So I took a look. Ironically, all their "optimized" versions of these files are larger than those on my local HD as well as my remote server. Then of course the JS & CSS get gzip compressed when served (which I guess the tool doesn't do either.)

No thanks Google, think I'll keep my (smaller) files. Of course it did say these entities passed, but odd that the message/downloads were even there.

What do you suppose Google thinks happens when you download a gzipped file?
