Google has said it's now supporting TLS v1.2, in addition to earlier versions. Google also recommends using the latest TLS for added data security and integrity.
Good to hear Google is publicly supporting The Last Samurai It was a good movie but I doubt it will make most webmaster take web security more seriously ;)

Back OT, Google have always been pretty good at pushing security and good practice. It's usually beneficial to them also, mind you.
They were quite helpful on pushing If-Modified-Since when it was rarely used, which obviously helps when you've got lots of things to crawl.
