Dealing With An Irrelevant Page That Visitors Like

What to do with a page that is "irrelevant" but is still the second most popular landing page on my site and visitors still seem ok with?

We used to sell widgets by a company that has since gone out of business (Foo Bar Widget Company).

So we have a page called /foo-bar-widgets.html

Being an ecommerce site, it is a category-level page with a description and (formerly) had links to the product-level widgets made by foo bar.

But foo bar has gone out of business and we don't have any more of their widgets to sell. So it is just a page with a description and no more products to purchase from it.

Yet this page still gets 7.5% of our google organic landing traffic.

If it had a high bounce rate I would get rid of the page immediately.

However, google organic bounce rate is on par with the site average (47% versus 42%) the pages per session are higher (4.2 versus 3.6) time on site is just about average (1:28 versus 1:31)

It unfortunately doesn't generate any sales.

Just wondering if I should keep this page or whether it might (eventually) be seen as a "doorway" page to my site, and might become a liability.

Thanks in advance.

No way to monetize it in any way? Are there any other companies making these widgets which can replace your previous company?

@ lammert:

Thanks for your response.

"No way to monetize it in any way?"

I guess that is PART of my question (although I realize that is sort of out of the real of google SEO). Yes, I would like to be able to figure out a way to monetize it and am open to suggestions.

"Are there any other companies making these widgets which can replace your previous company?"

It's not the type of product that "needs" a replacement, per se. Trying not to use keywords here, but it is a clothing item that is worn by women.

We have our own line of widgets that are of a similar style, so one thought is listing our line of similar-appealing widgets on that same page, then using the rest of the page to explain that the company is no longer around anymore.

But mostly I am concerned about shooting myself in the foot (or other bodily parts).

If people are not bouncing they must be visiting your other pages.

You've answered your own question. To benefit fully, eExplain the demise and, "by-the-way, we have all these wonderful widgets that may interest you." :)
Depending upon your site, you could add special offers, or you could even give individual voucher codes that are valid for a specific time-frame.
