Since the latest rollout of Penguin, I have noticed that my sites are not being crawled as frequently as they earlier were. Have anyone else noticed it too?

I have looked into the caching dates of some other competitors and even some top sites like facebook, and have noticed that their caching dates were also quite a while ago.

Any ideas?

Google crawling & caching has some loose connections to the value Google associates with your page. It is also impacted by how often you update your content. Google does not like to waste resources which lowers profits. If you have content that is published and rarely changed, don't be surprised with older cache dates.

Because there are different reasons your cache date can be influenced I personally would not put too much weight on it. If you look at your other website metrics and notice a trend, then you should worry. I worry less about individual metrics like cache date and focus more on traffic trends. When my overall referrals from other websites goes up I am happy. When the overall referrals goes down, I try to improve it. I see more of a correlation between my overall referral levels and Google rankings than individual metrics like cache dates and CTR.
