How to Safely Use My Site to Advertise Another Site of Mine

I have a site with a good number of visitors with advertising space on it.
I want to use some of that space to advertise another of my sites using an image ad but, am nervous about causing problems in Google.

Does nofollow ensure it is safe?
Does serving using javascript make it safe?

I may use Double Click dfp to serve the ad - does that make it safe?

I think I may be paranoid.

nofollow should be safe, but personally, I don't use nofollow on any of my own sites. When I interlink, it's usually on a links page (not a sitewide) and I don't use any particular anchor text, just the URL. So far I've never had a problem with it. That's just me.

I had seen a similar comment of yours netmeg when I did a search for an answer to my question. I feel I have no reason to not play ultra safe here as it will purely be an ad for my site, I am not trying to get any other advantage from a link.

If you're really worried about it, using DoubleClick (or a similar ad serving platform) is probably the absolute safest way to go. That goes for all advertising, IMO, because there's no way it can be perceived as a paid link.

I do it all the time and haven't had any problems.

It might be different if I tried to conceal the fact that I own both sites.
