Directory links ok - how many to keep?

Do you think high pr/domain authority directories can be a problem with Penguin now?

For example I had a link from <snip> which looks high quality - it even has Google and CNN on there - but they had four links pointing to me - I thought it might like questionable as opposed to being one link.

Does it make sense to disavow a link like that?

Thanks

If a directory link sends me good quality traffic, I don't disavow it. There are very, very, very few directories that can do this. I also avoid run of site links and have been for a long time as they look like paid links. Having four links from one site isn't a big issue to me. To be safe you probably want to make sure the anchor text appears normal and is not overly optimized.

I'd also check out the quality of the directory overall... in particular whether it's well edited and well categorized. Listing Google and CNN is not necessarily a sign that the directory is selective. Those are pretty obvious sites to list... and the directory might be listing those just for appearances.

If the directory is well edited, then the wording of its listings will be unique to that directory, and titles in listings won't be stuffed with keywords... and the directory won't accept all sites submitted.

A directory that accepts anything, and which is filled with dupe content, is probably there only for SEO purposes. If that's the case, I would disavow it.
