How good it is to build a private network of blogs and then keep on posting good contents on them by interlinking each other.

What is the aim of the blog(s)? Is it just about posting a good content? I.e. this would not be a link building network but a set of blogs with good content, each dedicated to a different subject?
Or something else?

The main purpose is to have different blogs on same topic where each article will have good written unique contents. How dangerous to have few back links to my main site?
