I have been trying different methods over the last 3 months and I have a few questions…

- How long does it google to rank the content of a new page ? is it right away after the page is crawled and index ?

- How about if I make change in the content of one of my existing page. Does google rank it to its final position once it has crawled the new content or does it wait ( transition period ? )

I have the feeling that for a brand new page there is no transition period but for an existing page there is a transition period, is that correct ?

Then in terms of writing content, I have read the advice that Mr Shinghal at google gives but so far what I tried doesn't work.

I understand that google doesn't use keywords anymore but relations ( things to string ) and I have tried that but doesn't seem to work. Let's say I want to rank on the keyword television screens (just an example). I have tried to include words like inches, flat screen, 3D but it doesn't change anything. Is there an order to do it in should keywords be next to each other a in the same sentence … I have the feeling that in order to rank you need to give a definition like wikipedia does but to says a product giving a definition is impossible…

Or is the key to ranking to have something totally different that what everyone talks about in your industry. Let me give you an example. Let's say I want to rank on "oil change" ( not my keyword but just an example ). The first 10 links talk about how to change oil. If I want to rank hove them should I talk about the reason to come and change oil at my garage ( topic that nobody talks about ) or is it useless to rank on oil change ?

Can someone give a little advice on writing Good content !

Last question is that true that google is currently learning and feeding itself from the content out there on the web (what I mean by that is that true that the words that need to be included in your content are according to what google finds to be the most common across the web ? )

Thank you,

Saffron

I don't know if I'm the right person to answer this, Google hates me at the moment.

When I write content, I always have the reader in mind and not Google. I imagine they know nothing of the topic, so try to cover as much as I can (again, with the reader in mind, not keywords or Google).

So, if I was writing about TV screens I'd probably do a summary of what a TV screen is and how they've changed over the years. I'd cover the types of TV screen (I can't give examples, because I know nothing about them), the pros and cons of each type of screen. Common sizes of screen...that kind of thing.

I find my new articles are pretty quickly picked up. The ones I've written this week don't seem to (I searched for 'topic, name of my site', but the one I checked from last week is already there.

I'd be interested about the editing content, I've been editing a few of mine and they've dropped in ranking, but I've also heard that that can happen. What I'm doing now is editing the really poorly performing ones, so if they do drop, it doesn't hurt me, but hopefully when the edited stuff is picked up, it will eventually cause them to rise. I think in this case, patience is the key.
