How To Tell Google Disavow List Is Actioned?

My destination guides were absolutely slaughtered by algo changes dating back to Penguin ver 1. (No manual penalties)

Both MC and John Mueller, if my memory is correct, have stated that Disavow lists can be submitted for sites in this situation.

The things I am uncertain about are:

1) Is there any way of knowing if Google has actioned a disavow list (submitted approx 2 months ago)?
2) If they have, can I assume that any changes have already flowed through to the indexing of the affected site?.. or
3) Will nothing change until Penguin ver 3 is run?

Any experiences to share?

Note that since austtr is speaking of an algorithmic penalty, there is no way to file a reconsideration request.

I've noticed that site I've disavowed in the past will show up as no follow after some time. I guess that would indicate that it's been processed.

Nothing will change until a Penguin refresh. (If I understand that question correctly)

It took about a year for one of my sites to recover after disavowing dozens of links and removing a couple of others.

My site saw a huge traffic boost after PANDA 4.0 in May. There is some anecdotal evidence out there that you can recover from a Penguin hit during a panda refresh.

And no, I wasn't affected by Panda. All of my hits in traffic coincided with different Penguin releases. None of them ever coincided with a Panda release.

For what it's worth.
