I have a LOT of IMAGES that are displayed at the top of the google SERPs for many desired keywords.

Yet the pages on which those images appear don't rank in the top 100 results at all.

Has anyone been able to figure out how to get high image ranking to translate into page ranking. Or are they just totally unrelated?

BTW: Click through rates for images are surprisingly low.

Google quit giving image viewers a reason to visit the source site quite a long time ago. Images used to bring traffic, but there are an awful lot of discussions here going back well over a year since they they made changes to the way they deal with images. People who relied on images are not pleased.

Thanks for the reply, not2easy.

I know people have been frustrated by the fact that images don't drive traffic.

But my question is whether someone has been able to diagnose WHY they might rank well for an image but the page on which it appears is not in the top 100 in the SERPs.

I guess I wonder if there is some html issue / other on-page technical issue that prevents a page from ranking for that phrase (even though the image ranks well).

Are the algos for image ranking and SERP ranking totally different?

Am I grasping at straws again?
