Wow. One might think your post sent an Alert! to help them figure it out. I don't think I've seen a similar issue addressed quite that fast.

Yes, yesterday morning for a couple hours Google's home page was showing the "triangle with exclamation point" in the address bar instead of the trusty security "padlock".
They had linked to an image on a non-secure server.
They did have copies of the image of "pegman" on both the secure and non-secure server at the same path so the fix for them was trivial, add the "s" to the http, for the link to the image.
But for a time Google's connection was "untrusted", and what bothers me a bit is, I barely noticed this warning on the browser.
