Effect of tumblr and its reblogs on SEO

Just wondering how everyone handles tumblr with regards to SEO? I post snippets of articles from my main site on tumblr and was worried about the effect the reblogs I'm getting (I've got a decent sized following so some will get a good amount) would have since they all have the same keywords linking back to each article.

I never link back to the main site's home page from my tumblr posts, just the individual articles, so will I be okay with regards to Penguin? My site's overall theme is pretty broad so the links pointing back to the site as a whole still stay pretty varied.

I always thought reblogs were great for traffic but not good for SEO. Reblogs essentially duplicate the content through syndication. Google's interpretation of syndicated content, and the value or harm it will do, seems site specific.

I know when you first post your link, that is a dofollow link with Tumblr.

Tumblr used to have reblogs set as dofollow, but looks like they have changed it to nofollow.

If you're just posting a snippet and not the full article, and a snippet of 10% of the article, I don't think it should be a problem.
