One of the methods includes determining, for each of a plurality of groups of resources, a respective count of independent incoming links to resources in the group; determining, for each of the plurality of groups of resources, a respective count of reference queries; determining, for each of the plurality of groups of resources, a respective group-specific modification factor, wherein the group-specific modification factor for each group is based on the count of independent links and the count of reference queries for the group; and associating, with each of the plurality of groups of resources, the respective group-specific modification factor for the group, wherein the respective group-specific modification for the group modifies initial scores generated for resources in the group in response to received search queries. Not sure about this - I think it might be exactly what the idea of an "Implied Link" in the patent is designed to foil.

You might be able to put it in an image though... But "aakk9999" is right, the "CTR" of things you can't click isn't going to be high...

Yes the trick is to find a way to do it in a big number.
As i have one panda burned domain, this is now my playfield.
It does not cost anything itīs just some work to do.

These are queries made by unique users to ressources of the group of the ressource to be ranked.

The good factor is the count of links (hence counting only independent links) and the bad factor is the count of reference queries.

"OK but this would make Googles algo base on user popularity and not on content."


Seem to be the case. More popular -> more links.

So; does anyone have any idea what sort of ratio of reference queries to normal queries could be considered natural?
