Is this a Google Quality Rater ?

Hey,

I noticed this url in my logs:

http://www.raterhub.com/evaluation/rater/task/show?taskIdList****************************

(taskid was edited)

Searched around for raterhub and it looks like its affiliated with Google? Is this their rating operation ?

The visit landed on a single internal page that doesn't rank for any keywords and they didn't stay for long or browse any other pages. Luckily, I think this is one of my best pages on the site so I hope they were satisfied with the 'quality' :/

Also worth mentioning, this site was submitted to the Penguin feedback form. Could that have anything to do with it ?

If you've submitted your site in the last few weeks, can you check your logs for visits from that domain ?

It does appear that this is Google's Rater Hub - here's an earlier discussion:

That link is 7+ years old :)

If you try to visit raterhub directly you receive the following message on an accounts.google page:

Ewok2 Rater Hub uses Google Accounts for Sign In.

Google is not affiliated with the contents of Ewok2 Rater Hub or its owners. If you sign in, Google will share your email address with Ewok2 Rater Hub, but not your password or any other personal information.

Ewok2 Rater Hub may use your email address to personalize your experience on their website.

This and other indications suggest It's most likely a company working for Google, imo. google has confirmed outsourcing the final quality control step, the human evaluation, to keep the indexes free of "sites that slip through".

I'm confused. If there's no affiliation, why are Google accounts used for sign-in?

Any site can use Google accounts for sign in. My site does so and my only affiliation with Google is that my site uses AdSense.

Look at Google's implementation of OpenID for single sign on to any site using a user's Google credentials: [developers.google.com...]

Thanks, Staffa, I was just going to post the same thing as I was surprised by the "not affilated with" message since the domain was registered by Google.

Is this a left hand, right hand kind of thing?

Or is it just Google being Google, trying to disclaim things that are in plain sight?

Oh, I guess it's just Google being Google ;o)

and I noticed that I misspelled the domain name, it's of course Raterhub and not Ratherhub
