Hi Everybody,

I have a few questions about the Google Keyword tool :

I checked the monthly searches ( Match Type : Exact, Phrase and Broad ) for a few keywords on the old version of the Google Keyword tool and repeated the keywords in the New version.

I found that the results in the Old and the New were extremely different.

I am sure many people would have witnessed the same. Is this a Google glitch? or am I missing something.

Also, one more query :

These monthly searches that Google shows; are these searches done only on Google OR are all engines included. I am assuming these are searches only done on Google.

Thanks.

Yes, the numbers are only Google numbers. Many comments about the differences are online, but I don't know that anyone has it figured out. Both versions show discrepancies in real world practice, some quite significant.

On a recent organic search project, I found that the Search Based Keyword Tool [google.com] was cam closer to predicting real world experience.

Thanks Tedster. Really appreciated it.

I read in the definations of the New Keyword Tool that the monthly searches were an approximate average of the 12 month period.

I guess this explains the discrepancy in the results.
