I've become aware someone is using several URLs from a web site of mine to spam quite a large number of websites with links. What can I do about it and how will it reflect on my web site? I'm worried Google won't know the difference and could impose a penalty...

Thanks.

Hugh, I think you mean that someone is adding links to other websites from your website.

The simple solution for this is just change the FTP/control panel password of your website.

If indeed you do mean someone is linking from other websites to your website - an attempt at "Google bowling" - it's not likely that they will hurt you with today's Google. Not unless by some chance your site is already weakened in some way by a recent penalty, or other practices on your part that viloate the guidelines. Google is well aware of this kind of tactic and they have taken steps to prevent damage to an innocent site.

AnkitMaheshwari: Not quite. They've been mass spamming links to member pages on mine and several other well known websites with forums which they've setup with related keywords for descriptions and links back to a single web site. I've deleted all the pages I'm aware of but I'm worried about suffering a penalty...

Tedster: Fingers crossed...
