I was trolling Google on Thursday looking for scraper sites who setup links to our home page using 302 redirects, a trick which can lower your Google Ranking, or even get you banned in the owrst case scenario.
We had identified a few dozen of these scammer sites that we were going to submit to Google's automated URL removal tool, which so far this week has been operating on a decent 2 day turnaround time for us. We have already removed about 30 sites who stole our content to out rank us, but yet they had 404 Page Not Found errors when you click them in Google's SERP. Easy prey for Google's URL removal tool.
But today I went back into Google to double check the redirect scammer sites, as that requires a different technique for removal. I was about to gather my working list of scammer URLs to submit for removal, when I found not one of them present any longer in the search results.
What the heck? They were there 2 days ago! I should have checked on Thursday for sure, but I beleive they were all on the Supplemental Index.
So my quesiton is, have you folks noticed the Supplemental Index searches are now missing? I could not get any to come up using searches that I know resulted in numerous Supplemental Listings just days ago.
It could also be that the Supplemental Listings are still there, but Google is not displaying them. This would be bad for us if we are trying to find URLs in Google's index that are illegal and want them removed. You cannot report them if you can't see them, all the while they can still be negatively affecting your ranking.
I was using the standard Google.com address to search, so I don't know which data center respondes, sorry.
Anyone seen anything similar?
