Was looking through contains the term results, and noticed a couple were from odd categories in the Y! directory, when I checked them the links were coming from "sponsor results".
I quite often trawl through "contains the term" but can't remember noticing this before ....

Not quite sure how to view this, if G doesn't "distinguish" them from the bona fide category links.......

They are being distinguished. You will see them in the "contains the term" results but you will not see them in the "link to" results.

As you say neither showed up in a links search, but I'll be keeping a closer eye on Y! directory links in future ;-)
