Hi I am sure this has been asked a billion times but how does google treat sites with unique copy text?

Right now my site is an amalgamation of articles from various news groups and I usually cite an article(s) on a page by using a summary and then providing a link to the actual article itself.

No that i have more traffic or reached a plateau in my traffic i wanted to know how google would treat my site if all 200+ articles were rewritten and basically made into original articles?

Right now my rankings on my keywords vary from 10-30, i am top 30 for half my articles. the rest are within top 50.

Has anyone seen a dramic shift in rankings when they create their own copy vs. summarizing and linking to other people's work?

Google would like it very much. However, the authors of the original articles might see it as plagiaristic if you just changed some words and phrasing, and then claimed it as original. If you base new articles on what you've learnt from others, no problem - just shifting things around might not be.

My newest site is about 1.5 years old and has about 1,250 pages of unique content. The pages vary from 50k to 75k in size.

There is no duplicate content and only 1 adsense adblock per page. There are about 150 pages with affiliate marketing products...but with original descriptions and marketing pitches.

Google hates this site, only 18 pages can currently be found in google. (12 of the 18 pages are affiliate marketing pages - go figure) Google used to acknowledge about 350 to 400 pages on any given day.

I have not targeted hot money keywords. I use #*$! and pick from the bottom 1/3 for this site as an experiment.

However, MSN, YAHOO, and ASK love this site, so life is fine with out G.

I have written many unique, original articles on my site and google has made them all supplemental. So, make your own judgement.
Oh, by the way. Except for two of them that I put out on the web, I have checked all of them to make sure they haven't been scraped. Nope.

I plan to rewrite it entirely or paraphrase i guess. i am not talking about substituting synonyms or tweaking a few words. We will see. thanks for your insite

but the general consensus is that it should help, if not with google then with someone else.

thanks will report back.
