strange pagerank for my website

My website's pagerank looks very strange:
the PR value for homepage www.example.com is 2 it's 4 for www.example.com/index.php. Some other tier 2 pages is also 4. Anybody know why?

It may be a split domain problem. See the Apache web server forum and look for htaccess and 301 redirect on this site for instructions on how to fix it.

I have the exact same thing with my site except it is spread over three page ranks.

Very weird, i'd be interested in hearing any opinions
