Why after all this time and all the advances does Google still have the Feeling Lucky search option?

I think perhaps Google like to keep links to their past and keep it because it's always been a part of them. They never want to forget where they came from, that helps them go forward with integrity.

I can't remember where I read this (Matt Cutts blog maybe?) but some Googler said that every time they did market research on the design of the homepage, no one wanted to get rid of the Feeling Lucky button, despite the lack of actual use. People just like to see it there.
