Hi while googling I just noticed below on the bottom of SERP

"In response to a complaint we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 1 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaint that caused the removal(s) at XXXXsite-nameXXX.org."

was I ignorant or is this newly seen?

Noticed this for a search some months ago - I don't think it it there permanently. Just checked the search I did and no longer there.

They have been doing this for about 3 years already.

If you follow the link, you can see the wording of the complaint, and the URL that was removed from the SERPs as a result of that complaint.

I saw it for the first time in 3 years then.
may b number of removals via DMCA are so rare that they are hardly noticable.

I have only seen it once in that time on my own - but have also seen half a dozen examples that other people have pointed out.
