I have a relatively new site, PR0 and ~10 backlinks.

A month ago I syndicated an article. The article was picked by a PR6 site, who used not only the headline but nearly 3/4 of the article text on its news page.

Now when I search for the relevant keyphrases, my article on the PR6 site clearly outranks me (the original content). I have no problem with that cause I'm pretty happy I got one-way link from PR6. At this initial stage it is important for me.

But I am worried about syndicating content in the future. My site is very new and nearly every other site that will pick up my content will outrank me on the keywords I've optimized for. On the other I hand, I really need inbound links.

Your advice. To syndicate or not to syndicate?

I am not sure by what you mean when you say 'syndicated' - do you mean through an RSS feed?

If so, I would only feed 10% - 25% of the article through RSS feeds in the future.

I would also include some kind of clause somewhere that they can only run a small excerpt (Say 10%) and that they must link back to you.

I would say that the site that ran 3/4 of your article did so, so that they could generate revenue from it, but that may not be the case (but 3/4 of the article seems very high).

Under normal fair use rules, I believe you can excerpt stories if you are commenting/reporting about them, but it has to be bare minimum.
