I have a pretty nice site, I have set up as a personal website (<edited>). Just checked and I have a zero page rank :-(

The site has been up almost a year, and the code is xhtml with CSS for the presentation. Keywords in headers and in the paragraph tags. I don't have a link exchange going. Is this my problem? Or are there other suggestions to improve pagerank.

thanks!

PageRank is one of many Google algorithm factors, and it is a measure of how strong your linking is, how "connected" or "voted for" your pages are. Only links enter into the PR equation, along with the PR of linking pages and the number of links on them. In other words, on page content does not influence PR -- although it certainly does enter into other parts of the algorithm.

You don't necessarily need to have a link "exchange" but you do need some links pointing to a page from elsewhere for that page to get some positive PR.
