My Google PR vacillates almost daily back and forth between 0 and 4. More often than not it is 0. At 6am this morning, PR was 4. By 9am this morning it is 0 again. Interesting thing is that my SERPs remain constant regardless of PR. I am in the top 10 SERPs but below some really empty sites with PRs of 2 or 3.
Explanations? I can't seem to find any on websearches.

Google switching between data centers is the usual reason. Right now the data is not the same at different data centers (but it is stabilizing a bit.) See our Data Centers Watch [webmasterworld.com] thread for similar observations to yours.

Google is going though what looks like two pr updates at the same time plus they seem to be trying different pr at different times of the day. You can see this at <edited>.

In fact, I observe 3 sets of PRs: pre-september, post-september and current PRs. One of my sites shows all 3 PRs intermittently (PR3 pre-Sept, PR4 post-Sept, and PR5 new.
It is interesting to see such old indexes and values (older than 7 months) still persist.
