Google backlink analysis?

Viewing backlinks in google doesn't seem to show an accurate reflection of the links I have.

Can anybody suggest another way to get a good idea of all the sites linking to me?

Google only reports on a sampling of backlinks -- it was always this way. I think their algo is too sensitive to link data to expose everything they have indexed.

At any rate, the other engines have no such sensitivity, and you can usually assume that if Yahoo or MSN sees a link on the web, so does Google.

Google is unable to show backlinks. They dont't have enough horsepower (servers) to show all backlinks.

So use Yahoo or MSN to view your backlinks.

Google made an intentional decision not to show all backlinks. They used to show a sampling, but only from pages that were above PR4. Then after a discussion with Matt Cutts (after-hours at a PubCon) Matt liked the idea of showing a backlink sampling that was less fixed and would show some lower PR pages.

I think it's highly unlikely that Google doesn't have the technical capacity to show all backlinks. They are protecting their algo from too precise a reverse-engineering assault -- because their algo is much more link-sensitive than the other two major search engines.
