Google Finance is now live:

What is Google Finance?
Google Finance is an early beta product that offers a broad range of information about North American stocks, mutual funds and public and private companies along with charts, news and fundamental financial data.

How is Google Finance different from existing financial websites?
Google Finance offers an easier way to search for stocks, mutual funds, public and private companies. Further, Google Finance also offers a broad range of company news and information in order to deliver more relevant, unbiased results in a clean, uncluttered user interface.

Check it out here:

I think it's really slick how they allow you to use a slider to increase/decrease the time window when viewing stock charts.

Now, if they can just update the program so you can slide it all the way to 2007 and see what the stock price will be next year... ;)

I guess you're using IE...switch to Firefox ;)

the site looks cool...even though I'll stick to yahoo as all the articles are hosted on Y!, there's no need to go to 4000 sites to read the news and research.

google is <gasp>paying for content</gasp>.

Sounds like they are growing up, a significant move from those who have always gotten content for free, I can imagine there were more than a few vigorous discussions about that, this is probably the single most major shift in G's modus operandi since its inception. Also seems be an admission of failure relative to google news (is that still in beta?)
