I saw Google PR prediction tools on some of the sites, which predicts the future PR of the site (dont know on what basis), did the prediction hold true to any of you guys?

Reason I m asking coz I have got the link request from the site which have current PR of ZERO and predicted PR of 7. As I have consider link request of the site on their primarily on their PR and then on the content etc.

Thanks

No - it is not always accurate --- In more cases the predicted PR is higher than the PR actually recieved...

I have PR3 site which had PR4 two updates earlier and always shows PR7 - PR10 in prediction tools. Why not hire a seer to predict your future PR and then boast how big one has been predicted? :)

I've also seen some situations where predictions came true. Tools predicted to many sites I own that they will remain PR they had and it happened indeed.

rajraj,

it depends from the methods, used by prediction tool. For example, I use tool which shows me PageRank values for testing page on different Google's DCs. If I know, that current PageRank of my page is 0 (newly created, 1 month ago) but I see that several DCs has PR=4 on it, I'm sure that this page receives PageRank 4 when whole updade cycle will be completed.

Reason I m asking coz I have got the link request from the site which have current PR of ZERO and predicted PR of 7.

A you sure that real PR of that page was ZERO? I observed many times, when root pages of my sites became PR=0 for several days and even weeks than returned their ToolBar's value 6 or 7. (And during time, when ToolBar shows PR=0 those pages was ranked in SERPs at same positions).
To be sure, just check links to that page.

Final thought: I don't beleve to PR prediction tools, which doesn't tell how this PR calculated. v9

In a word NO! Not very reliable at all.

A lot of these Page Predict PR ranks takes into effect the amount of links you went out and got and factors that in where as google may not.

For example I had and still do have a PR4 on my site. I went on a very aggressive reciprocal link and one way link exchange for several months.

I went out and got a ton of links!

When I checked the Future pagerank it showed my Page Rank as a 10!

This was 6 months ago, however my real Page Rank still shows its a 4.

These Future page rank are build on a lot of false factors that google does not take into account.

What hasn't been said is you are looking at it backwards.

You should consider "content" of the site first and only. If it is a site that would be good and useful for your users...then link to it. Otherwise..forget it.

Too many site owners and webmasters think only of the "game" and not the true usability of the web.

PR is a huge factor in getting quality links but shouldn't be.
