Hundreds of sites using the same template have lost google cache.

Mass delisting, how to recover?

I have several (ok a couple hundred) sites that use a common template, but serve up unique content based on business category.

Everything was going fine, millions of pages in the cache, etc, up until exactly last Friday. All the sudden, every single one of these sites is down to one page, the homepage, indexed in google.

I realize I may be have tripped a dup content filter for reusing the template, but does it happen that fast for hundreds of sites?

Also, I have other sites that use the same template, but are on different IPs, and have been around for longer, that didn't get delisted at all. I guess I'm just looking for advice and to see if anyone else had experienced the same thing and been able to recover?

Welcome to WW, trevize.

At a guess, it sounds like you're seeing the effects of the new G algo, "Big Daddy" (ridiculous name, granted). Dig into the threads here that have been discussing it and see if it sounds familiar.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. Google is still crawling these sites, and since March 1st there have been over 590,000 hits from Googlebot. Do you think this means the cache will rebuild at some point? I would think if they had banned me, they would stop crawling as well.
