Removing Old URL from Search

Search brings up old URL

I have just taken over maintenance for a local club site. A Google search on the club name comes up with a URL which used to be the actual URL, but is now being used for something entirely different. The former webmaster simply changed the content of the site, and is now using it as a personal web site.

How do I get this rid of this search result?

Thanks

Dave

Welcome to WW, Dave.

I may not have this right, but it sounds like the URL with the "old" site isn't getting crawled very often, and still shows a very old version. G hasn't caught up with the new content. Your new URL isn't doing well enough to replace it.

Best bet is to get more inbound links and push it out of the serps.
