High SERP for popup image

How can a popup image reach position 3 on the top page?

About five weeks back I set up a page with just a single incoming link (from the site map). It has no other incoming links. The page now has page rank 3 and the site map page has page rank 6 - has had for years. There are several popup images on the page. One of them is now number three on the top page for a single word search term which is part of the image name. "Results 1 - 10 of about 1,690,000 for #*$!xxx." That's on 66.249.93.104, complete with cache from 26 Feb. This seems totally crazy to me. Any clues as to why this would happen?

I've seen things like this -- often when Google has not so much data to go on, then whatever data is there gets a high focus. In terms of PR, a 3 sounds reasonable if the page is linked from a 6.

If you think about the user experience when they come directly to the "supposed to be a pop-up page" you may be able to leverage this situation nicely.
