Hello,

This is my first post so please be gentle as I'm not very into site optimization. So, on to my problem…

There is a site that I've made that had to be only done in flash. So the HTML's function is to contain the flash only.

3 months ago I have uploaded the first version of the site which was only containing "under construction" information.

Then google has indexed it and put it in it's cache and so…

But after some time I've put the real page along with modified html containing updated title, description, metatags and so...Also I've made the html valid according to w3c standards and included some html text so people without flash can get an idea of what is happening.

But here comes my problem: google haven’t indexed my page since the under construction page was active. I've put sitemaps and a link on a friend’s page with high PageRank (in fact the page that comes to #1 result when you search for Company’s name, which problematic site I’m asking about) but with no result. Search results and cache is the one of the time when I've first submitted the page...

Please, I don’t know what to do. I will highly appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hi shushumiga
Welcome to Webmasterworld. Google shows a lot of old caches lately due to some update. It is not said you are not indexed well.

Flash alone is not a good choice if you want to peek in the SERPS for your keywords. Take care at least that your title tag and meta description tag contain the keywords you are aiming at.
Mostly a new site shows up in the SERPS and then disappears in the depths of the SERPS for 9 months or longer. You can find on webmasterworld many threads on this so called Sandbox period. Use this time to bring your site under attention of webmasters so they can link at you if they think it is usefull. Some searchengine friendly pages around your site might also help. Success.

Thanks for the reply.

I've searched for "sandbox" and found several threads that explain this term well enough for me to understand.

As far as I can see there is nothing I can do about it.

From the threads I've read there seems to be assertion that ALL sites that are new go in the sandbox for a certain time. Is that true?

I've made 3-4 other sites and did not experience this. They have popped up in the search results as expected without any delay (couple of days maybe). They have changed their TITLES and DESCRIPTIONS as I changed them on my sites...

In my site, about which I started the thread for, there is no such thing happening. I didn’t find a clue, in what I’ve read, about this: If you change your pages titles does the TITLEs in the SERPs change? Or It stays as it was first indexed?

Thanks again

The cache of Google is outdated lately very often due to the update. Don't worry. New title and descriptions will come in cache as well. The link from your friends sites will help.

Fresh crawls might take a little longer as well at the moment. Look at the update thread on webmasterworld.

I see.

Is there a chance that there is something in my code that google does not like and this is the reason my site isn't doing well in google?

If so is it ok to post a codeblock of my index page (the only one). It is about 30 lines long.

three months is to less time to say anything. One page is also to less to expect something positive in the SERPS. Just build more pages and get some good one way links.

Try the spider simulator on SearchEngineWorld:
[searchengineworld.com...]

Also, try joining the Google Sitemaps program -- you'll get reports if they have trouble spidering.

You should have your content available to non-flash browsers. Flash and SERPs just don't mix. If you want a high SERPs you need content the spider can read. Meta-tags, description tags and title tags just aren't enough.

Thank you all.

I've joined sitemaps and runned a couple of simulators.
Everithing went nice. So...I'll just have to wait :) and hope something happens.
