The Easy Way to Make Money from Big Daddy

The Pro-Webmaster's Approach to Adversity ...

Big Daddy and its associated anti-spam campaign is big news at the moment, it could also be big business.

All of you Webmasters operating out on your own could be cashing in on this purge of spammy sites by advertising yourselves as the clean sweep that will get your clients back into the serps once more.

For too long it has been too easy for cheats to get the keywords that they want, just by cramming keywords into their pages and pushing backlinks. Well the playing field is starting to change and it's time for the honest guy to cash in.

Has anyone got any great idea's for cornering this market that the New Webmaster could learn from?

All the Best

I don't think it is an anti spam index. They are changing the way the backend works this is not a normal update. They are tying to fix a lot of the canonical issues. Even if it was all it would do is clear out the amatures. The pros have not flinched at any of the updates.

i cannot believe your words colin_h.
so you want to tell me that i shall tell my customer i am not a SERP cheater? do you think anyone cares? LOL

in fact, the easy way to make money from big daddy is to use coop systems to get your site to the top. i am seeing that using coop schemes pays off on big daddy.

In the past 5 days I've received 7 calls from stressing website owners saying they have been banned from google for really amateurish page boosting techniques, 4 of them have actually been notified by Google that they are out in the next update. Their cheating webmasters don't want anything to do with it and that leaves them looking for a clean designer to take over.

I think you dismiss what's going on at your own peril and if you want to think Google aren't getting hot on cheats that's your business ...

... I'll gladly take the business ;-)

Some quotes from MC's Blog [mattcutts.com...]

"We’ve been going through the spam feedback and acting on it"

"The best way to get people to process your feedback is to use the spam report form or the dissatisfied link, make sure that you include the keyword “bigdaddy” and try to be as specific and clear as you can."

So I think MC considers bigdaddy to be at the heart of a google crackdown on spam.

Nope - dont think that is the purpose of Big Daddy.

Obviously while Big Daddy is being deployed Google have to keep a close eye on spam issues etc.

But Big Daddy is largely to do with new infastructure being brought in that will help in the indexing and ranking, 301 redirect rules etc - it is natural for Google want spam reports - but I dont think that is the primary aim of BD.

Also I think MC likes to call on spam reports all the time anyway.

Tend to agree - although I dont think all the pros would have predicted and took the necessary action to help avoid the canonical issues that have developed in G over the last 18 months

Saying you are a whitehat SEO can help you get customers in the wake of some of the bannings going on. Assumeing you can get results.

Hi Ogletree,

I agree you must be able to show results. The reason that I started this thread was because I'm getting fed up with reading about theories and speculation. I thought that it might be nice to inject a positive note to this forum, but obviously we all would rather discuss canonical issues (as if it's not discussed enough on other threads).

Personally I see a huge opportunity for webmasters that can get results without cheating. I always stick by my guns and say "If you have to change a page to please a search engine ... you're cheating".

Mostly true. I'll give one exception from my own experience but there are others I'm sure. Be careful where you point those guns.

From the very beginning of my site building I would routinely use text the same color as the background for spacing elements. These were in almost every case underscores "_" though occasionally I would use other punctuation characters. Since I never used letters I never considered this "hidden text." I was never penalized and always ranked well for about three continuous years. After the site was banned last July I replaced these characters with spacer gifs. I had originally used text characters instead of gifs for bandwidth economy, they are a single byte each whereas the link to a gif with obligatory alt tag etc is considerably larger.

The site was reincluded in September and since Google won't say I'll never know if the so-called "hidden text" was the reason for the ban.

But I submit that this is at least one instance where an innocent practice lead to a change to please a search engine.

Oh God, it's not often I beg for someone to end a thread.

Ultimately, the only way to be 'clean' is not to care about where your site ranks. If you check your rankings (or read this forum) then take any remedial action whatsoever, you're not 'clean' (or so the argument goes).
