Redirects and Big Daddy

Trying to understand how Google views redirects

I have a site with the long URL www.mysite.com/subtopic/topic/topic/product.html. Given the long URL, we market it using a separate domain www.myproduct.com and typing that leads the users to the long URL. Our rationale is we want everything on our domain for branding purposes, but we also recognize that people will have a hard time remembering a long URL.

Is this type of redirect something that Google frowns upon, especially with Big Daddy?
