cache missing and dropping positions

hi there our website has been very high ranked in google for a long time.. suddenly i notice that our position drops but more importantly the cache of google every time it crawles is empty... there is nothing there. can anyone please help with why it may be happening .. we use frames .. a top , bottom and main .... any help would be great

Were the frames there when your site wise highly ranked?

You say the cache is "empty" but it's not "missing", correct? What do you see if you "View Source" on the Google cache page? Is your source code there?

Also, if you aren't already, I would suggest using absolute urls for the src attributes in the frame tags.

I just checked a frameset page that one of my clients uses -- indeed the frameset page itself shows blank if I click on the "cache" link.

View Source shows that the correct code is really there. But because the Google cache page itself is not a frameset, the browser doesn't show the individual pages in the frame. The cache page has a mixed bag of html that isn't close to valid. However, the urls for each of the frames are still indexed and cached properly.

In short, I don't think there's a connection between this cache phenomonon and your lower positions in search results.
