Hi,

View this site: <snip>

It's completely written in Java script. But showing PR=6. How is it possible. What is the basis of PR? I thought content and Back links play vital role. Please advise.

The entire Google algorithm has over 100 factors, and PageRank is but one of them. PR is only about links -- nothing else. The factors used to calculate PR are essentially the PR of the linking pages and the number of links on those pages. Content does not enter into the PR calculation.

A page can get good rankings on a particular keyword search if that keyword is in the link text on a different domain or even just in the title tag of a linking page. In the absence of spiderable content on the page itself, these off-site factors can be dominant.

Also, the page in question may still have at least a title element of its own (in the head) that is not generated through javascript -- that also has major clout.

There are also some technical tricks to show false PR on the Toolbar, but I doubt that anyone who writes an entire page with javascript is using those.

yes, as said, PR has no relation to content.

You can point a link to a page that does not exist on your site, then months later create that page, and it should have instant PR.

PR is about links pointing, not content.

Agreed, there are plenty of PDF docs with PR

Then what is the importance of content? Does Google ever check content of the site?

How can it understand the theme of the page, if there is no HTML stuff?

Google is not clever enough to understand yet. It relies on the people opinion and beaviour. They vote by the links.

Although PR stands for PageRank, it does not mean the Rank of your Page in relation to the search results. It refers to the little green bar you see when you have the Google Toolbar installed. PR, on-page and off-page factors combine to give you your actual placement in the search results.
