I have a question: can using a subdomain url help with Google ranking for a specifc keyword, with that keyword being part of the subdomin name?
I have found this subdomain url that ranks #2 when searching on specific keyword, which turns out to be part of the subdomain name, ie. [keyword.domainname.com...]
I really do not see any requisite SEO on this url to cause it to come up so high. Has a PR of 3, nothing special in backlinks... so I have to ask: does having a subdomain with a keyword in it help with google ranking?
Also, I noticed that you are immediately taken to the main domain url from this subdomain when clicking on a link, ie you go from [keyword.domainname.com...] to www.domain.com/subdirectory. It seems that there is a mod_redirect being used here. Is the subdomain URL given Google pagerank/backlink attributes from the actual domain page its redirecting to?
Is this a valid SEO technique I can use, using a gateway page through a subdomain url? I ultimately want to get better ranking on this keyword and am prepared to create a subdomain redirect if it has a chance of working.
Any feedback/experience regarding this would be most appreciated.
