Hi

Could anyone please tell me what the criteria is for getting listed in a nation specific version of Google, or any other search engine for that matter.

For example, the vast majority of our clients are UK based so we need them to appear in google.co.uk. As far as I believe one of the criteria is that the site is hosted on a UK IP.

Would it be ok to not be on a UK IP but have a .co.uk tld? can you have one and not the other? Are there any other factors?

Thanks, coldworld

Disclaimer: only Google knows how it really works.

I believe IP is important because Google seems believes that if you target UK you should be fast for UK customers and in general it is possible only if you have UK IP.

However this is not the only factor. I believe that it is even more important, which countries sites you are linked to and which sites are linked to you.

In general I believe that Google will compare you with other UK sites to decide, so some British only words and expressions do no harm.
