I'm having a very strange morning. I realised last night that one of my clients web sites has a page 1 Google rank on a particular search term and emailed them to inform them of this.

Got a phone call this morning from them saying they can't even find their site on Google!

It's still coming up, page 1 for me, but nowhere to be seen for them!

Anyone got any ideas why this might be?

Google has several datacentres, used pretty randomly in rotation.

At the moment there are various serp sets across these dcs. These will show different serps to the searcher at different times. Check out other threads for theories on what the different datasets mean.

If you used to be nowhere and are now seeing yourself at #1 intermittently then I'd take that as a good sign.

If you were at #1 and are now seeing yourself nowhere intermittently I'd take that as a bad sign.
