Sitemap problem - Google spiders daily, but no crawl stats

About three weeks ago a sitemap was put up and Google has been spidering on a regular basis. It has yet to show Crawl Stats in the site overview. Google doesn't report any problems and the site validates.

What could be the problem?

the site validates

Do you mean that the site is "verified"?

The site is verified and Google spiders it at least once a day. With the STATS TAB selected the Query Stats, Crawl Stats and Page Analysis show nothing. Another site added to Google's Site Overview at the same time has information for Crawl Stats and Page Analysis (both were submitted Dec. 20).

Is it just a matter of time before Crawl Stats and Page Analysis appears for the first site? More importantly is it a good indication that Google spiders once a day? And will it mean that the sites will eventually show up in their index?

Are you still not getting stats? I have the same problem. It's been two days since i created my sitemap, status is OK and verified, still no crawl stats, or pages listed in the index (only a very old page is in index). Resubmitting does not help.

Any ideas?

Are your sites well ranked in google and are visitors coming to your site from Google?

You won't get any stats unless the pages are coming up in the SERPS

I replied, but it got revoked for linking my domain for advice.

Ahh well, I am a Tenderfoot when it comes to webmastering and this forum afterall. ;) I did quickly browse the policy b4 posting, but I guess I missed where it said I couldnt post my URL. ;^)

Hopefully my 3rd post will make it through screening ...

I think my problem is that I recently created my site and domain and that I don't have any sites linking to it as of yet. I'm still in the process of registering with all the Directories I can find, adding content and learning as much as I can in the process. Most of my technical experience is with hardware / networking etc. so much of this is new to me other than some basic HTML years ago.

I wanted advice about my site and linked to it, but I now know that is out of the question.

There's alot I need to learn, but it is certainly fun. :)

thanks for your reply,
Tender

I'm having the same problem with a site that is only just recovering from being penalized completely out of the SERPS for 21 mos. Google's coming and getting several hundred pages a day, and there's maybe 30 or 40 back in the SERPS now (and people are coming in on them, though they aren't ranking particularly well - at this point, the client just wants to get back in, then we'll worry about ranking) The sitemap has been picked up at least twice a day if not more for at least 5 weeks now, but no crawl stats. I *do* get stats for error pages.

It has taken a month for Google to index the site, but only the index page. Still no stats other than the site verifies okay. Is it just a matter of time or is something else going on?

The stats you get are stats about which pages most commonly come up in the Google SERPS. If you've just launched your site then it's unlikely you'll get any stats.

So, it is a matter of improving SERP before I get stats. Thanks for clarification.
