Duplicate Content penalty.

Will I get hit for including my own articles on my site.

Hi, I've written some articles and put them in various article repositories and sure enough they've started turning up on other people's sites with my link which is great.

However I also have these articles on my site and I've been reading on here for a few weeks and seen the 'duplicate penalty' mentioned on several occasions. Now I'm thinking if Google sees these article on several sites including mine I could get hit for this.

Is this correct? If so is it enough to change the title of the article or is it a case of writing one version for distribution and one for my site?

Thanks in advance.

The "duplicate penalty" will only occur if the other pages also have substantially the same template, format, links, etc (then the low-man on the totem-pole gets booted entirely, I believe). Otherwise, you're just competing with them in the serps on searches of your content. Of course, if people who have your articles are placing above you in the listings, then that's not good. If you're number one, and it seems that you'll stay there, it's not a tremendous concern. Make sure anyone who posts your articles gives you backlinks to the original content (which is happening, eh), and you should gain out of it.

I have the same situation and on google.com all my articles are indexed normally but on BigDaddy they have all gone supplemental except one. Can't figure out why that one didn't.

I've been thinking about submitting some articles. My thought was to put them up on my site first, be sure they are indexed by Google, then submit them to the article sites. Seems like this way, I'd get the credit for them since they were found on my site first, don't you think?

Easy- mine were on my site first- for a while.
