Hi

I noticed that Google havent crawled my site since 28 November

Before this my site was crawled every 3 days. It has been more than 2 weeks now!

I have a PR5 site with lots of inbound links, and update every 2 days.

Can anyone shine some light on this?

Thanks

You should be so lucky! We're getting overwhelmed by Google crawling our site at a rate of over 9400 pages every day! I wish they would slow down, perhaps 1000 a day would place less strain on our server and allow real readers in!

To get back to your question, this could be a sign that Google has devalued your web pages. I have seen it happen to me. Less than one month is I think too early to say for sure and perhaps there other reasons why G is temporarily visiting less often. But pages of lower value in the eyes of G get crawled less frequently.

If you consistently were crawled at one rate and now you're consistenly crawled at a much less frequently it doesn't sound good.

Have your rankings dropped?

How old is your site and how long have you observed frequent crawling habits by G?

Anything tehnical wrong with your site? Use that new G sitemap tool and it will give you crawl errors

Are some pages crawled and updated with more frequency that others?

Been using sitemaps for a while

Site has been going since 2001

Very large site 500 pages +

Nothing technically wrong

I thought this might be to do with the latest update?

Sounds really strange. No visit. However don't despair. Mozillabot seems to be the most active nowadays. Keep watching your logs for it.
